Triathlon Event

Our triathlon event is designed as a real challenge for all the participants and is very suitable for both young people (aged 14 and over) and as a corporate challenge event to develop teamwork between colleagues. We use three different activities as part of our triathlon being cycling, walking and canoeing and the whole challenge covers 50 kilometres. Set in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park our triathlon event starts at the seafront of the traditional seaside town of Barmouth. From here teams cycle along the Mawddach trail, which follows the Mawddach estuary to Dolgellau, and then continue to the bottom of Aran Ffawddwy. Here the bikes are left and then the walk begins. Groups think that the walking bit might be the easiest stage but your next challenge is to scale Aran Ffawddwy (905 metres high) and then walk down the Aran ridge to Llyn Tegid (Lake Bala). This is a high level mountain walk and one of the finest ridge walks in Snowdonia. Once you reach Llyn Tegid you move to the third and last activity canoeing. For this part of the challenge you canoe the whole length of the lake. The route is split as a 20 kilometre cycle, 15 kilometre walk and 10 kilometre canoe and we supply all specialist equipment for this including bikes, canoes, maps and compasses.

For the two specialist activities (high level mountain walk and canoeing) qualified instructors will be on hand to guide and support you. The whole route can be seen on the British Mountain Map Snowdonia South.

The triathlon is ideal for a sponsored event and it can be run as a whole weekend or day activity. For the whole weekend teams will be accommodated within the centre from the night before the triathlon having supper on arrival they will then be supplied with breakfast and a packed lunch and given an evening meal on return at night with breakfast on the day after the triathlon before leaving for home. Teams who simply want to do the triathlon can arrange to meet us at Llyn Tegid to be transported to the start they supply all food.
